That Case Is Not Here - May 2022 Newsletter
Greetings from New York City!
I’m in the Big Iguana! The Midtown Marauder is back on The Old Broadway!
This morning, Wednesday May 11, I will be on The Tamron Hall Show to talk about the U.S. release of Wish You Were Here. It will air live at 10:00 a.m. on ABC (in Canada I believe it’s carried by Global), and I’ll be in studio on the Upper West Side talking with Tamron and Patricia (virtually) about the book project.
This has been planned for some time, and I would have told you sooner, but you know how these things go: you get told you’re gonna be on a five-act bill, then you discover you’ll go on last, and then Carson decides in the final minutes to cut you.
I was going to be virtual, but late Monday they asked if I’d consider flying in (they’d asked before, and there began this long process of the show and book publisher haggling over who would pay for the flight and hotel, and well… it just sort of died). But then Tamron stepped in and said, “Get that guy in the studio!”
Waiting for the man
This is a photo of the last time I was in New York, my daughters on the steps of the Penn Post Office looking like Candy Land rough trade.
That’s right, it was some ComiCon extravaganza, and you can just imagine the wolf-calls as we marched through the meat packing district headed for the Javitz Center. It was all I could do not to growl that “HELLO KITTY IS 10-YEARS-OLD!”
I’ll be at McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village, NC on Saturday May 14 at 2:00 p.m. for a signing and reading. If you’re close to the Piedmont come by and say hello. Then later this month:
That’s all the good news for now. See you in the funny papers!
